These Brandied Meatballs are a cozy yet elevated twist on a classic favorite — perfect for gatherings or quiet nights in. Simmered slowly in a rich sauce of peach preserves, brown sugar, and a splash of brandy, they balance sweet, savory, and aromatic flavors beautifully. Elegant enough for entertaining, yet simple enough for everyday enjoyment, this recipe brings warmth and refinement to any table.
Ingredients
2 pounds ground beef
¾ cup milk substitute
½ cup soft GF breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (I personally substitute coconut aminos)
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg (divided)
1 teaspoon ground ginger
⅛ teaspoon pepper
Dash hot sauce
2 tablespoons avocado oil
1 (18-ounce) jar peach preserves
¼ cup brown sugar, firmly packed
½ cup peach-flavored brandy
½ cup Cointreau orange liqueur
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon cold water
Directions
Prepare the meatballs:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, milk, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder, half of the nutmeg, ginger, pepper, and a dash of hot sauce. Mix well and shape into 1-inch meatballs.
Brown the meatballs:
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs for 10‒15 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides. Drain on paper towels and discard pan drippings.
Make the sauce:
In the same skillet, combine peach preserves, brown sugar, peach brandy, Cointreau, and the remaining ¼ teaspoon of nutmeg. Stir to combine and bring to a gentle simmer for 10 minutes.
Simmer with sauce:
Add browned meatballs to the sauce, cover, and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally tocoat the meatballs evenly.
Thicken the sauce:
Mix cornstarch and cold water in a small bowl until smooth. Stir into the sauce and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened and bubbly.
Serve:
Transfer to a warmed chafing dish or slow cooker to keep warm. These tender, aromatic meatballs make an elegant addition to any holiday buffet or cocktail gathering.
